Your set says who you are before you say a word.

A show about UFOs shouldn’t look like a show about AI. We start with who you are and what you talk about, then design a room nobody else has.

We notice what you’ll notice in episode 40.

Honey has lit sets for PBS KIDS, TEDx and the FDA. We’ll still move a lamp two inches before we call it done.

What we design and build

What is podcast
studio design?

It is planning a room's set, lighting, cameras and sound together, so every angle looks and sounds finished on camera. We handle the design, the gear and the install.

Podcast studio design FAQs

Something else on your mind?

Call 213-315-6197

How much does it cost to build a podcast studio?

The cost of a podcast studio depends on three things: the room, how many cameras you run and how much set you build. Upgrading the lighting and cameras in a room you already have costs far less than a turnkey build with a custom set. After a call and a site scout, we send a detailed estimate that includes equipment, so you know the full cost before anything is bought.

What is the best design for a podcast studio?

The best podcast studio design starts with what the camera sees: a set that says who you are, soft light that separates each host from the background, and cameras placed so eyelines meet across the table. Plan the set, lighting, cameras and sound together, not one at a time. We design all four in 3D, so you approve the look before anything is built.

How do you set up a podcast studio?

Set up a podcast studio in five steps: define the show and the look, design the set, lights and cameras, check the room’s measurements, build and light it, then test and train the team that will run it. We design in Blender, plan the light in Set.A.Light 3D and scan the room with LiDAR in Polycam, then install and test everything on site before your first recording.

What equipment do you need for a podcast studio?

A video podcast studio needs cameras with lenses, a microphone for every voice, lights, acoustic treatment and a way to record every camera at once. We use a Blackmagic ATEM Extreme ISO to switch the show live and record each camera separately, so a missed cut never costs you an episode. We choose and install the gear to fit your room and your format.

How do you build a podcast set?

Good podcast set design starts with the show: who you are, what you talk about and what your audience should remember. We design the backdrop, furniture and practical lights in 3D, check every measurement against a scan of your room, then build, rig and light the set on site. If you already have a set, we adapt it to the space, as we did for American Alchemy.

How do you light a podcast studio?

Light a podcast studio with a soft key light on each host, a backlight that separates them from the set, and practical lights in the set for depth. Rig every light so it stays put, and episode 40 looks like episode one. We plan the positions and angles in Set.A.Light 3D before the install.

How many cameras do you need for a podcast?

Most two-person video podcasts need three cameras: a close shot of each host and a wide shot of the table. Add a camera for each extra guest or for a top-down shot of a desk or product. With every camera recorded separately, your editor can cut to any angle after the show.

Do I need soundproofing or acoustic treatment?

Most podcast studios need acoustic treatment, not soundproofing. Treatment stops echo inside the room, which is what makes a podcast sound amateur. Soundproofing keeps outside noise out and is a construction job, worth it only next to traffic or loud neighbors. We check your room on the scan visit and recommend what it needs.

How much space do you need for a podcast studio?

A two-person podcast studio fits in a spare office, a garage or a corner of a larger room, as long as the cameras can sit back from the hosts and the lights have room overhead. Ceiling height matters as much as floor space. Send us your measurements or a phone scan of the room, and we will tell you what fits.

Do you build podcast studios outside Los Angeles?

Yes. We are based in Los Angeles and design and build podcast studios anywhere in the US, in homes, offices and commercial spaces. We fly in three times: to scan the room, to build and light it, and to train your team.

Tell us about
your studio.

Share your room, your show and your timeline. We'll follow up to talk through the design.
